The touring series, both the Cars Tour and Smart Modifieds have finished their races at Tri County for 2025 season. The Cars series packed the house with 9,300 people. The Smart Modifieds brought a huge contingent of their own and all provided plenty of excitement for the fans.
The Modified series led off the event on October 11. Burt Myers #1, won the pole for the race. However, it was Cayden Lapcevich, #39, who brought the field to green. There was trouble right away on the start when Tom Buzze, #5, and Brody Jones, #92, were involved in an incident on the start of the race. A restart followed. There was a scheduled caution on lap 30 and pit road was opened. Yellow #2 was waved on lap 53 when Buzze spun in turns 3 & 4. Daniel Yates, #18, was the culprit of caution #3 when he spun in turn 4. Caution #4 was the result of 4 cars spinning in turn 4. This occurred on lap 87. The final caution was on lap 90 when Luke Baldwin, #7, and Cody Norman, #12, became entangled on the backstretch. Racing was intense for the final laps. Myers attempted a pass on the outside of Carson Loftin, #15, on the next to last lap. Loftin slid up into Myers in turn 4 and essentially drove away enough to hold off Myers for the final two laps. Paulie Hartwig III, #73, finished third.
The Carolina Mini Stocks was race #2 of the evening. Isaac Harris, #59, won the pole with a lap time of 17.606, 81.790 mph. The event ran caution free. Harris took home the win. He was followed by Chuck Wall, #81, in second and AJ Sanders, #32, in third.
The Renegade Division put on another caution free show. Klint Townsend, #9, was the pole sitter as a result of his lap of 18.762, 76.750 mph. Townsend also won the event. He was followed by Jackson Sparks, #7, in second and Gary Ledbetter, #28, in third.
The Carolina Vintage series rolled off as the fourth race of the night. Bob Hapeman had the hot lap in qualifying with a speed of 16.712, 86.165 mph. Once again, we had a caution free event with Hapeman coming home the winner. Bobby Wallace, #35, was second and Don Fenn, #72, followed in third.
A second Carolina Vintage race rolled off next. Doug Howell, #28, brought the field to green. Marty Reid, #44, charged to the front and took the checkered. Doug Howell was second. Charlie Spencer, #3, finished in third, in yet, another caution free event.
The Front Wheel Drive Division was race 6 of the night. Gary Willard, #54, claimed the pole position with a lap time of 20.065, 71.766 mph. Randy Hupp, #54H, sped to the win, in yet, another caution free race, but was later disqualified in post-race tech. Giving Gary Willard the win, Dalton Willard, #15, landing in second, and Macailie Coates bring home the third spot.
The Crown Vic series broke the string of caution free races. Jesse Clark, #1, sat on the pole, with a time of 20.324, 70.852 mph. The lone caution was waved on lap 10 when Jacob Hickman, #22, spun off turn two. Clark went on to win the race. Dominic Morlando, #013, was second, with Hickman recovering to third.
The Street Stock Division was the last event of the night. Nathan Franks won the pole award with a speed of 17.064, 84.388 mph. Caution #1 was the result of a blown engine in Tyler Woodrings #4 car on lap 20. Caution #2 was 9 laps later on lap 29. Franks and Mike Hatton, #12, were involved in an incident on the front stretch. John Reynolds, #55, was the winner of the night. Gary Ledbetter, #8, followed in second and Hatton was in third.
Race fans thank you so much for coming tonight! We know you enjoyed the Smart Modifieds, along with our regular scheduled events. Hope to see you on Saturday, October 25th.
