Fall has arrived and we are about to enter the home stretch. Hard to comprehend isn’t it? We still have some good racing left with a very tight points battle going through all divisions.

The first race on September 20th was the Carolina Mini Stocks Division. Allison Houston, #29, grabbed the pole in qualifying with a lap of 17.726, 81.236 mph. Robert Strmiska, #90, started from the pole via the invert. One caution slowed the race and that was on lap 2. Darrell Foster, #98, spun in turn 4. It was all green flag from that point. Strmiska never relinquished the lead and claimed the win. Shane Canipe, #1, was second and Isaac Harris, #59, rolled home in third.

The second show of the night was the Renegades. Jackson Sparks, #7, was fastest in qualifying with a lap of 18.869, 76.315 mph. Klint Townsend, #9, was the recipient of the invert and started P1. Caution #1 was displayed on lap 21. Joshua Gunter, #92, spun in turn 2. On the restart, again on lap 21, three cars were involved in an incident in turns 3 and 4. This involved the cars of Gary Ledbetter, #28, Michael Waldrop, #22, and Hunter Guthrie, #32. The race ran under green flag conditions from that point forward. Townsend took home the checkers. Nathan Pate, #1, came in second and Ledbetter recovered for 3rd.

The Bowman Gray Street Stock paid a visit to Tri County for race 3. Spencer Martin, #5, sped to a lap of 16.707, 86.191 mph. One caution waved during the event and that was on lap 14. Brandon Brown, #9, slowed to a stop in turn 4. Christian Joyce, #1, crossed the line in first, but was later disqualified in post-race tech. He was followed by Brad Lewis, #16, which was also disqualified in post-race tech. Bryan Sykes Jr, #99, claimed third place, but was also disqualified in post-race tech. This giving first place to Jonathan Southern #17. He was followed by #2 Austin Jones. Bring it home in 3rd place is #30 Zachary Cogar. Also being Disqualified in post-race tech is #13 Kevin Gilbert, and # 68 Emilee Lewis.

Front Wheel Drive Division was race 4 of the night. Steven Watts, #05, set the pace in qualifying with a lap time of 19.438, 74.081 mph. The top 5 were inverted for this race. This placed Stephan Sharar, #34, on the point. Three cautions waved during the event. The first caution was on lap 4. Justin Marler, #59, spun in turns 3 and 4. Yellow #2 was on lap 5. This was the result of Skylar Brown, #2, slowing to a stop on the backstretch. The final caution was on lap 12. Brown and Marler got together going into turn 3. Jason Garwood, #46, secured the win of the night but was later disqualified in post-race tech landing #05 Watts with the win. He was followed by #2 Brown in second and #59 Marler in third.

The Outlaw Division was race 5. Martin Nesbitt, was the pole sitter with a speed of 15.551, 92.598. The invert placed Lee Tissot, #27, on the pole for the start of the race. One caution marred the evening on lap 43. Scott Bumgarner, #9, was smoking badly which required the yellow. After the lead being swapped back and forth between Tissot and Nesbitt a number of times during the race, Tissot prevailed as the night’s winner. Nesbitt came home second. He was followed by David Messer, #26, in third.

Next on the track was the Street Stock Division. John Reynolds, #55, was fastest in qualifying, with a time of 17.032, 84.546 mph. The invert placed Nathan Franks, #1, on the pole. Jonathan Goodwin, #05, and David Rader, came together on the first lap, on the front stretch. This was before the first lap was completed and resulted in a complete restart. Goodwin was again the cause of yellow #2 when he stopped on the backstretch on lap 26. Gary Ledbetter, #8, won the race. Reynolds followed in second. Mike Hatton, #12, came home third.

Walter Jenkins IV, #1J, was fastest in Limited Late Model qualifying with a lap time of 16.168, 89.064 mph. The top 5 were inverted. This placed Austin Harris, #59, on the pole. The race ran caution free. Hudson Sharp, #15, took home the checkers. He was followed by Harris in second and Chase Pollard, #98, in third.

The Crown Vic Division was the last event of the night. Jesse Clark, #1 won the pole earlier in the evening with a speed of 20.443, 70.439. The invert handed the top spot to James Powell, #5. There was only 1 caution during the race and that was on lap 16. Jacob Hickman, #22, spun in turn 4. Powell went on to win the night’s last event. He was followed by Kyle Dubeau, #12, in second and Dominic Morlando, #013, in third.

Once again another fantastic night of racing at Tri County Speedway! The next event on the docket is The CARS TOUR on October 4th. Hope to See you there for this fun filled night of racing!
