Fall has arrived and we are about to enter the home stretch. Hard to comprehend isn’t it? We still have some good racing left with a very tight points battle going through all divisions.
The first race on September 20th was the Carolina Mini Stocks Division. Allison Houston, #29, grabbed the pole in qualifying with a lap of 17.726, 81.236 mph. Robert Strmiska, #90, started from the pole via the invert. One caution slowed the race and that was on lap 2. Darrell Foster, #98, spun in turn 4. It was all green flag from that point. Strmiska never relinquished the lead and claimed the win. Shane Canipe, #1, was second and Isaac Harris, #59, rolled home in third.
The second show of the night was the Renegades. Jackson Sparks, #7, was fastest in qualifying with a lap of 18.869, 76.315 mph. Klint Townsend, #9, was the recipient of the invert and started P1. Caution #1 was displayed on lap 21. Joshua Gunter, #92, spun in turn 2. On the restart, again on lap 21, three cars were involved in an incident in turns 3 and 4. This involved the cars of Gary Ledbetter, #28, Michael Waldrop, #22, and Hunter Guthrie, #32. The race ran under green flag conditions from that point forward. Townsend took home the checkers. Nathan Pate, #1, came in second and Ledbetter recovered for 3rd.
The Bowman Gray Street Stock paid a visit to Tri County for race 3. Spencer Martin, #5, sped to a lap of 16.707, 86.191 mph. One caution waved during the event and that was on lap 14. Brandon Brown, #9, slowed to a stop in turn 4. Christian Joyce, #1, crossed the line in first, but was later disqualified in post-race tech. He was followed by Brad Lewis, #16, which was also disqualified in post-race tech. Bryan Sykes Jr, #99, claimed third place, but was also disqualified in post-race tech. This giving first place to Jonathan Southern #17. He was followed by #2 Austin Jones. Bring it home in 3rd place is #30 Zachary Cogar. Also being Disqualified in post-race tech is #13 Kevin Gilbert, and # 68 Emilee Lewis.
Front Wheel Drive Division was race 4 of the night. Steven Watts, #05, set the pace in qualifying with a lap time of 19.438, 74.081 mph. The top 5 were inverted for this race. This placed Stephan Sharar, #34, on the point. Three cautions waved during the event. The first caution was on lap 4. Justin Marler, #59, spun in turns 3 and 4. Yellow #2 was on lap 5. This was the result of Skylar Brown, #2, slowing to a stop on the backstretch. The final caution was on lap 12. Brown and Marler got together going into turn 3. Jason Garwood, #46, secured the win of the night but was later disqualified in post-race tech landing #05 Watts with the win. He was followed by #2 Brown in second and #59 Marler in third.
The Outlaw Division was race 5. Martin Nesbitt, was the pole sitter with a speed of 15.551, 92.598. The invert placed Lee Tissot, #27, on the pole for the start of the race. One caution marred the evening on lap 43. Scott Bumgarner, #9, was smoking badly which required the yellow. After the lead being swapped back and forth between Tissot and Nesbitt a number of times during the race, Tissot prevailed as the night’s winner. Nesbitt came home second. He was followed by David Messer, #26, in third.
Next on the track was the Street Stock Division. John Reynolds, #55, was fastest in qualifying, with a time of 17.032, 84.546 mph. The invert placed Nathan Franks, #1, on the pole. Jonathan Goodwin, #05, and David Rader, came together on the first lap, on the front stretch. This was before the first lap was completed and resulted in a complete restart. Goodwin was again the cause of yellow #2 when he stopped on the backstretch on lap 26. Gary Ledbetter, #8, won the race. Reynolds followed in second. Mike Hatton, #12, came home third.
Walter Jenkins IV, #1J, was fastest in Limited Late Model qualifying with a lap time of 16.168, 89.064 mph. The top 5 were inverted. This placed Austin Harris, #59, on the pole. The race ran caution free. Hudson Sharp, #15, took home the checkers. He was followed by Harris in second and Chase Pollard, #98, in third.
The Crown Vic Division was the last event of the night. Jesse Clark, #1 won the pole earlier in the evening with a speed of 20.443, 70.439. The invert handed the top spot to James Powell, #5. There was only 1 caution during the race and that was on lap 16. Jacob Hickman, #22, spun in turn 4. Powell went on to win the night’s last event. He was followed by Kyle Dubeau, #12, in second and Dominic Morlando, #013, in third.
