The last race at Tri County had to overcome some weather obstacles. It had rained until late in the afternoon. Persistence paid off though. The track was dried and the full slate of races was able to run.
The first race of the evening was the Front Wheel Drive Division. Skylar Brown, #2, started from the pole with a speed of 19.697, 73.107 mph. The race ran caution free and Brown appeared to win the race. However, the 2 car was disqualified in post race inspection. This handed the win to Mahlan Borkholder, #19. Gary Willard, #54, placed second and Randy Hupp, #54H, was in third.
The Carolina Mini Stock Division rolled off second. Practice was rained out resulting in starting off points giving Isaac Harris, #59 on inside front row. Three cautions were waved during the race. Yellow #1 was on lap 13 when Dennis Trivette, #28, spun in turn 3. Trivette was also involved in caution #2 when he and Allison Houston, #29, and Robert Trivette, #11, all got together on the restart on lap 13. Dennis Trivette was also the cause of the final caution on lap 17 when he spun and made heavy contact with the outside wall in turns 1 and 2. Jamison Whittington, #61, claimed the win. Dennis Trivette crossed the line in second but his score card was pulled for failing to heed a black flag for a restart violation. Harris took home second place money. Doug Hopper, #15, was credited with third.
The Renegade Division had Gary Ledbetter, #28, starting in first place, as a result of practice being rained out and starting off points. One yellow was waved and that was on lap 4 when Michael Waldrop, #22, spun on the backstretch. Klint Townsend, #9, took home the winners trophy. He was followed by Jason Sparks, #7, in second, and Ledbetter was third.
Starting spots in the Limited Late Model race were determined by qualifying. Owen Wilson won the pole with a speed of 15.592, 92.355 mph. The top 5 were inverted which placed Casey Pierce, #18, on the pole. The first caution was a lengthy one for a blown engine on lap 18 by the #27, Terri Crider car. Lots of oil and speedy dry had to be cleaned up before racing could resume. Hudson Sharp, #15, crashed into the turn 2 wall on lap 28 for yellow #2. Vincent Arthur, #9, spun on the front stretch on lap 38. Chase Pollard, #98, took home the checkers for the night. Pierce was second and he was followed by Zack Franks, #1, in third.
The Street Stock Division was race 5 on the night. Points determined the starting lineup for this race. Gary Ledbetter was the recipient of the pole based on that. The race ran caution free. A late charge by Nathan Franks #1 earned him the win for the night. Ledbetter followed in second and Maxx Porter, #96, placed third.
Landon Huffman led all qualifiers in the Late Model Division with a speed of 15.586, 92.390 mph. The only caution displayed was on lap 32 when Taylor Reimer, #25, spun down the front stretch. Graham Hollar, #25, was the winner. Huffman was second and Thomas Beane, #X, was in third.
The Crown Vic series was last on the track. Kyle Dubeau, #12, started from the pole. Vince Marlando, #279, spun on the front stretch on lap 1. Otherwise, the race was caution free. Jacob Hickman, #22, won the event. He was followed by Dominic Morlando, #013, in second. Austin Simmons, #7, was credited with third.
We hope race fans enjoyed our full night of racing. Our next race will be Sept. 6, 2025. We hope you have a blessed Labor Day!
