Tri-County Speedway
Alliance Drive A Way Solutions Night
Tri County held 8 races on Saturday June 6th. This was one of the most fantastic racing events of the season!
Race #1 on the docket was leg 1 of the Grand National Super Series. Jacob Borst, #8, ran the fastest lap in qualifying at 16.252, 88.604 mph. But an invert of the top 4 allowed Chiris Burns, #8, to see the green first. There was only 1 caution which was a competition caution on lap 20. When racing resumed, Borst reclaimed the top spot for the win. He was followed by Burns in second and Austin Harris, #19, was third.
The Carolina Vintage Club was race 2 of the night. Jesse Martin, #3, won the pole with a lap of 18.227, 79.003 mph. The race ran without any yellows. Dee McCall, #20, took the checkers. Martin finished in second and Marty Reid, #24, was third.
Outlaws were next on the track for race 3. Dakota Slagle, #13, set fast time in qualifying with a lap of 15.494, 92.939 mph. An invert placed David Werner, #16W, on the pole. Caution #1 was on lap 1 when Jonah Cullen, #1X, spun in turn 2. Yellow #2 was on lap 5. This was the result of Sheflon Clay, #15, and Robert Thomason, #95, involved in an incident on lap 5 on the backstretch. Caution 3 was on lap 17. James Robinson, #28, spun in turn 2 to bring out that caution. Clay won the race. David Messer, #26, placed second and Cullen placed third.
The fourth race of the night was the Renegade Division. Klint Townsend secured the pole with a lap of 18.692, 77.038 mph. An invert allowed Malin Gunter, #91, to bring the field to green. Caution #1, was on lap 15 when Townsend was smoking badly. He pitted and returned to the track. However, the smoke persisted and it caused another caution on lap 20. The last caution was the result of the 1.5 car of Shawn Thomson spinning in turn 4. Gary Ledbetter, #32, took the win and was followed by Kyle Dubeau, #12, in second. Gunter took home third.
The Late Model Division put on a heck of a show for the 5th race of the night. Diego Mendez-Torres, #24, led all qualifiers with a lap of 15.615, 92.224 mph. Coy Beard, #75, and Wyatt Miller, #73, brought out caution #1 when they got together in turn 4. Yellow #2, was on lap 58 when Charlie Watson, #9, spun in turn 3. The final caution was on lap 67 when Kaedan Ballos, #19, spun in turn 4. Alex Meggs, #18, took the win of the night. Arthur Gama, #9R, came in second and Torres followed up in third.
The Street Stock Division was race 6 of the night. Johnny Reynolds, #8R, secured the pole with a lap time of 16.961, 84.900 mph. The 35 lap race was caution free. An invert allowed Terrence Tucker, #42, to start in the P1 position. Reynolds came back to claim the win. Mike Hatton, #12 was second. Cody DeMarmels, #30, secured third place.
The Limited Late Models were next up. Chase Pollard, #98, set the time to beat in qualifying with a lap of 15.982, 90.101 mph. An invert allowed Clarkson Hagen, #17, to start first. One caution was waved on lap 4 for debris. Don Carlton, #14, appeared to win the race. But both he and Owen Wilson, #42, who appeared to finish second, were both protested by Walter Jenkins IV, #1J. Carlton refused to tear down and Wilson failed the post race inspection. That handed the victory to Jenkins IV. Chase Pollard placed second.
The second leg of the Grand National Super Series closed out the night with race #8. Jamie Bosley, #11, started P1. There was a competition caution on lap 20. Caution 2 was waved on lap 41 when Jacob Borst, #8, and Mosley collided in turn 3. Chris Burns, #75, won the event. He was followed by Austin Harris, #19, in second and Mosley in third.
We hope everyone enjoyed this great night of racing. We also hope you enjoyed the best burger and fries in my opinion of any track around! Hope to see you on June 20th for another round of exciting racing!
