It is mid-July and the racing season is half over. Hard to comprehend, isn’t it? But we still have the latter half to look forward to on Saturday nights.

First race on July 12th was the first leg of the Grand National Super Series. Jeremy Mayfield, #19, claimed the pole with a speed of 15.885, 90.651 mph. The race ran caution free except for the competition caution on lap 22. Mayfield claimed the win and AJ Henriksen, #46, was second. Jamie Mosley, #11, followed in third.

The Front Wheel Drive Division was race #2. Skylar Brown, #2, posted a fast lap in qualifying of 19.397, 74.238 mph. This race was also caution free. Brown was able to hold on for the win. Blake Walker, #41JR, appeared to finish second, but failed post-race inspection. This allowed Camden Esco, #23E, to claim second. He was followed by Dalton Willard, #15, in third.

The Renegade Division was due up next. Klint Townsend, #9, won the pole with a lap time of 18.890, 76.230 mph. The first caution was waved on lap 10. This occurred when Benjamin Campbell, #67, and Joshua Gunter, #92, had an incident in turn 4. Yellow #2 waved when Jarrett Anderson, #26, lost a power steering hose. The track was cleared and racing resumed. Anderson lost his power steering line again on lap 25. That was the final yellow of the race and Townsend claimed another win, but failed post-race inspection in the Renegade Division. Gary Ledbetter, #28, rolled home first and Gary Aldrich, #34, rolled home second and Gary Willard #54, rolled home third.

The next race on the schedule was the Late Model Division. Thomas Beane set the mark in qualifying. He secured the pole with a time of 15.535, 92.693 mph. Jeff Sparks, #7, slowed to a stop on the track on lap 21 to bring out caution #1. Taylor Satterfield, #40, brought out yellow #2, 8 laps later, on lap 29. He spun on the backstretch. The final caution of the race was on lap 59 when Max Reaves, #18, spun in turn 1. Beane held on to his #1 starting spot for the win. Landon Huffman, #75, ran second and was followed by Graham Hollar, #25H, in third.

The Carolina Mini Stock Division was race 5. It seems as though this division sees plenty of yellows and this night was no different. Initially, Allison Houston, #29, secured the pole with a lap time of 17.518, 82.201 mph. The first of 5 cautions was on lap 15. This was caused by Dennis Trivette, #11, and Jamison Whittington, #61, both spinning in turn 4. Lap 19 saw Trivette spin once again. This time in turn 3. Nadine Coates, #40, spun into the inside wall of turn 3 on lap 21, bringing out yellow #3. Doug Hopper, #15, spun between turns 3 & 4 on lap 22 for caution 4. The final caution was also on lap 22 when Houston spun in turn 4. Isaac Harris, #59, sped to the win and he was followed in second by Brandon Clements #7. Whittington finished third.

Race #6 was the Limited Late Models. Kevin Leicht, #7, won the pole with a lap time of 15.935, 90.367. Leicht also brought about the only caution when he spun in the 4th turn wall and had a fire on lap 21. Zack Franks, #1, won the race and Austin Harris, #59, came home second. Hudson Sharp, #15, rounded out the top 3.

Race #7 was the Street Stock Division. James Dolan, # 4, had a speed of 16.744, 86.000 mph, to secure the pole. Davey Smart, #14, spun in turn 4 on lap 6 to bring out the races only caution. Gary Ledbetter, #8, came home victorious. Dolan ran second and Mike Hatton, #12, was third.

Race 8 was the Crown Vic Division. Shane Lisk won the pole with a speed of 20.616, 69.848 mph. This race ran caution free. Kyle Dubeau, #12, was the winner of the 20 lap event. Hunter Hatton, #4, finished in second and Jacob Hickman, #22h, was third.

Racing was rounded out for the night with the second leg of the Grand National Super Series race. The top 5 were inverted from the earlier race. This placed Chris Burns, #18, on the pole. There was a competition caution on lap 28. Racing resumed and the race was slowed one more time when Bob Schacht, #75, and Jamie Mosley, got entangled in turn 3 & 4 on lap 28. The racing was intense with side by side battling for the lead from that point forward. Jeremy Mayfield, #19, and AJ Henriksen, #46, were seemingly glued together until Mayfield got loose coming out of turn 4 on the final lap. Henriksen took home the first place trophy. He was followed by Mayfield in second and Schacht in third.

We hope all race fans enjoyed all the racing excitement at Tri–County Speedway tonight. We look forward to our next race on Saturday night, August 9th.
